No guarantee on rawhide shade life because of the many factors that affect rawhide. There is no way to know how long they will last. All shades are guaranteed only to arrive safely and should be opened immediately upon delivery to confirm good condition. Once safe delivery is accomplished the transaction is final. Rawhide is fragile, needs care and will wear out quickly if abused.
Rawhide shades are affected by heat and humidity. Natural rawhide is constantly expanding and contracting which eventually leads to splitting. To extend life, you should condition regularly with neatsfoot oil, use compact fluorescent bulbs and avoid hot or dry environments as well as direct sunlight, heating vents and closed-up rooms.
With that said,
there is nothing that compares to the warm glow of a rawhide
shade. These rawhide shades are handmade and are of very high
quality. As with antler lamps, each rawhide shade is uniquely
beautiful.
